Mission Statement

“Wildfire Research Network SOLUTIONS” is a public benefit non-profit of technology-minded, boots on the ground team.

We are working to stop the long term tragedies that Wildfires bring to a growing number of World communities and treasured wildlife and its habitat, which is a slow to renew sanctuary for humans as well. We recognize TIME is the most important factor to reduce this continual tragic occurrence.

WHAT WE DO

FINAL STATEMENT

Do we want to continue to tolerate mediocrity and let these tragedies continue, or get involved to move toward better solutions. Consider this, that the scars of Wildfires are much longer felt than those of other disasters which man can repair, but we can't bring a beautiful natural setting back within or lives and often even in our children's lives, in some cases multiple generations. This time related statement isn't the most important TIME consideration. To reiterate the most important TIME factor, identifying a Wildfire ignition, extinguishing it before it becomes a force greater than man can control.

Let us work together using the best tools to stop this World problem. Thus Aviation and Aerospace satellites /aircraft and trained command center decision makers using purpose built computers for real time fire events to provide a FASTER by a LOOKING FORWARD software & more complete assessment of those assets needed to STOP a potential WILDFIRE. Better tools alone will not be enough. Training with the same computer assets, but accelerate the TIME of the fire training event to maybe 2 hours. This would be required for Command Center decision makers to be quick and sharp like a fighter pilot by periodic simulation training. Wildfire Urban Interface (WUI) fuel management must be part of the preventive maintenance to reduce potential WILDFIRE events. This could be again supported by Aviation & Aerospace technology again. Please contact WRNS for much more details.

Director & Founder of WRNS

STEPHEN SKINNER

Stephen Skinner, Founder and Director of Wildfire Research Network Solutions Attended Northeastern A&M JC, Miami-Oklahoma for its 2 year Engineering studies program. Worked for 5 different Aerospace Companies in the Tool Design Departments. Eventually as a Tooling Engineer on 2 NASA programs, the Space Station and the HiMAT experimental fighter that was such a breakthrough in technologies, that its on display at the Air & Space Museum at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. In those 27 years I worked on 21 different programs on all types of aircraft; fighters, B1 & B2 bombers, trainers, C17 Airlifter & many Commercial Airliners. Then on the Space side; Delta Rocket Program & as a main designer of the tooling for the Habitat and Laboratory Space Station modules.

On the Wildfire and Environmental side. I graduated from California Polytechnic Univ. with a Bachelor of Science degree from their Environmental Design College. Then to work for the Landscape Architectural firm of Jones and Petersen, then to Olsen Associates-Civil Engineers & Landscape Architects. Then doing volunteer research for Wildfire Research Network (WRN) out of Topanga CA. Then onto Western Disaster Center (WDC) Director of Wildfire Policy under Rich Davies, NASA Ames scientist; Director of Defense Space Consortium & retired Lockheed satellite engineer. He was a pioneer in the use of “remote sensing” for Disaster Management using aerial vehicles and electromagnetic frequency tools. A fore-runner to the emerging LiDAR survey & Disaster Management system of today. This very high tech system originated as a combination of laser "light" & "radar" usually merged with airborne vehicles. I came on board with him in August of 2009 after a month or so of phone conversations inquires about present satellites that could be used for Wildfire detection. I researched and wrote white papers on solutions to the Wildfire problem. Also Provided some data gathering to aid their cause, as well as a community public presentation. I also worked with USFS on my Cal-Poly senior year project on Forest issues. In 2011 while working on a fire proof architectural design to be a autonomous demonstration residence complex in the mountain community of Pine Mountain Club within the Los Padres National Forest; I spent 2 visits to the USFS Products Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. The purpose was to engage with their scientists & engineers on possible solutions to create an on site fire proof treatment to wood members and a more streamline method to approve”Wood Density as a Defense to Fire Resistance” for regulators to approve fire proof/resistant materials.

Jim assisted in Fire Protection and Defense with neighbors during the 2020 Bobcat Fire within the USFS Angeles Crest National Forest. On September 6th we stood the line defending the homes, as the fire roared from the USFS area to the Little Rock Dam and the surrounding area of Juniper Hills leading into the Antelope Valley area of Palmdale, CA.
